Brenda was able to take Friday – Tuesday off this weekend since she’s been the acting manager and assistant manager at her property and she basically said so. That left us with an abnormal and much-needed extended time to spend together this weekend. Friday night, I did have to work, but it was an early shift and I was home before our friends Gillian and Keith arrived from the boonies Sechelt (about an hour-ish from Vancouver).
Saturday, our first stop was Georgetown Brewery, to get some libations for my P*A*R*T*Y* I ordered a small keg of Manny’s Pale Ale and grabbed a couple growlers of Chopper Red Ale for good measure. Then, it was off to brunch at The Hi-Life in Ballard. I had worship rehersal that afternoon, so the girls went shopping. We completed the day with dinner at Thai Bistro in Mill Creek.
Sunday, Brenda stayed home to finish some stuff for the P*A*R*T*Y* while I trundled off to Pathways. It was an interesting morning, filled with sound problems, instrument problems, musician problems (well, me problems); it all pretty much made me homesick for Sacred
. And, just like Sacred, when it was all said and done, the morning was great, the church family worshipped, and all our stress seemed ridiculous at the end.
The P*A*R*T*Y* turned out great. The parentals, the in-laws, all the sibs, and a ton of people from Pathways all graced our little abode, rain and all. There were burgers, brats, mojitos (and the aforementioned hops-based beverages). Brenda made one of her famous ice cream cakes, this time with Tillamook Chocolate-Peanut Butter ice cream
. It was fun to have everyone there, and I’m trying to think of an excuse to have another one (maybe Flag Day. or Thursday).
Monday (the day of my doom) was pretty relaxed. It was really sunny, so we took the dogs to the Edmonds dog park with our neighbor. Then, Tim and Rachel came over and we grilled out again and played some bocce ball. Later that night, Brenda and I headed off to Ballard to check on Tim’s new tattoo and then had some wine at Lombardi’s.
Tuesday, Brenda and I had a day of fun downtown, but that’s a story for anther time (and pics will be forthcoming) . . .
