This May Not Make Any Sense
September 19, 2008You know how sometimes, you get a chance to do something really great or unexpected for someone? You know, it’s an opportunity to really make their day, or just step in at the right moment to give them a boost? And, the thing of it is that you yourself get so much out of doing that for the person . . . you get so much real pleasure out of it that it almost feels selfish, like you had really just created this elaborate ruse just to make yourself feel good and the other party’s happiness is just a pleasant side effect?
I got to do that twice tonight.

Pagitt Stole My Thunder
September 12, 2008When the Palin announcement first dropped, I was amused but didn’t think too much of it. Since I’m not in a battleground state, I’ll probably be voting Libertarian. But, one thing that did strike me was the curious clash between the wing of Christians that believes that women cannot be in authority over men and that same group’s obvious opposition to anyone in the pro-choice camp.
Doug Pagitt had the same thought in an editorial written for the PBS Religion and Ethics blog. It’s worth reading.

Fantasy
September 6, 2008I’m playing Fantasy Football this year for the first time ever. I enjoy watching the NFL, but I’ve never followed closely enough to play. However, I figured that I would give it a shot this year, so that I would have something to do instead of watching the NBA (I’m taking at least a year off to protest David Stern’s continued presence in the league, but i’ll talk more about that later).
