8Tracks basically calls itself “the legal Muxtape,” a testament to the latter’s impact on music sharing in its brief existance. 8Tracks lets you create mixes by either uploading your own .mp3 or pulling from their list of tracks already uploaded (for the record, I had to upload 4 of the 8 songs on my list). The two initial problems are that you can’t download the mix; you can only stream it. The other is that there’s no way that I’ve discoverd to embed the mix on Facebook, iLike, or here on I Radio Heaven. So, for now, you’ll have to go here to check out Volume 1 of There’s No Reason To Be Afraid!.

The embed code for each playlist is on the 8Track site. I’ve put mine in the sidebar. For you this is your code:

Man I got all excited because I thought you had found an old actual 8 track system to add to your turntable. I remember when you ruined a bunch of mine and figured when your boy found them it would be pay back time.

Hi Kenneth,
David Porter here, founder of 8tracks. Many thanks for the coverage! You can also upload AAC files (ripped via iTunes or purchases in iTMS as long as no DRM) using our Mac Uploader, currently in beta.
Also, you’ll be able to embed the mix on Facebook once we get our app together. In the meantime, you can embed our Flash player for any mix.
Fwiw, we started 8tracks nearly 2 years ago, long before Muxtape showed up. But since we didn’t launch publicly til nearly 6 months after Justin did, the press has been giving us that moniker ; )
Please let me know if you have other questions!
