so, is there a way to have a page showing your Media Library? Delicious Library’s export page feature sucks, and Library Thing only covers books. I’d love a way to list my vinyl collection (this is inspired by the fact that i recently acquired a first-pressing of The Cure’s Three Imaginary Boys on Fiction Records.
also, one drawback i’ve noticed to WordPress.com is that I can’t upload .mp3’s. Actually, that’s just a drawback for you ;-). Anyway, i was looking at the FAQ’s, and it’s $50 to upgrade to that ability. i’m wondering if a cheaper option is to switch to wordpress.org and deal with that, but then i’m worried that i won’t be techie enough to deal with the control.

according to Google Reader, I’m the first one (that I know) to blog this? how is that possible?
anyway, Jobs revealed the new Apple toys here. The one I’m most excited about is the movie rental service, seeing as how I spend up to two hours a day on the bus. I’m kinda so-so about the rest. I was hoping for a 12-inch MacBook.

After ten LONG days, i finally got my computer back. They did almost $1100 of repairs to it, so thank you, AppleCare. I got a new logicboard, new USB ports, and a new soundcard. Basically, i’m a new screen away from a brand new computer. I was hoping they would throw Leopard on, but no such luck
So, i have lots to catch up on: email, google reader, bills, etc. Fun, fun stuff.

. . . what would happen if you launched a baseball 100km/h from the back of a truck doing 100 km/h?
Yeah, I hadn’t either, but I thought this Japanese Mythbusters-style video was still pretty cool. The dramatic soundtrack and slow-mo editing is what did it for me

Part of me wishes this is just a tragic joke.
Somewhere between the perfectly curated iPod playlist—which, let’s face it, can be a pain in the ass to create—and the unwelcome randomness of radio lies the new Slacker music service. After collecting your preferences, the aptly named outfit does the heavy lifting for you, predicting other tunes you’d appreciate to create a “station” just for you.

Stereogum posted the winners of the "indie Grammys", aka The Plug Awards. These are voted on by writers, bloggers, musicians, and fans, so there’s a bit more credibility to the wins.
I Radio Heaven was happy to see:
Band of Horses land Album of the Year (and Americana Album OTY)
Female Artist OTY: Neko Case
Male Artist OTY: Sufjan Stevens (I find it necessary to point out that Sufjan’s only release this year was an album of outtakes. He’s not Jesus, people.)
Live Act OTY: Broken Social Scene
Radio Station OTY: KEXP, Seattle, WA

The iPhone is here, and it’s marvelous! I won’t be getting one of those for another 18 months (lousy two-year contracts), but that gives Apple time to be on their 4G iPhone by then

Cingular only for now, kids. Engadget also quotes Jobs on the specs, including 8GB of memory, camera, thinner than Blackjack/Motorola Q, no stylus and no buttons (touch screen? ewww), portrait/landscape view, video playback, and all the usual smartphone trappings (email, IM, calendar, yadda) — all running on OS X (a bit much for a handheld, no?), all synched via iTunes. Oh yeah, and it plays music. (During the demo, Steve picked a tune by The Beatles. Sly dog.)
Check Engadget’s iPhone post post for a lot more pics. Email looks like it’ll be an absolute bitch on that thing!
There’s also a rapidly-updating Wiki post on it already.
Here are a couple screenshots from MacWorld.

so, my .Mac membership expired yesterday. I have been very pleased with it, but I don’t really use anything other than the e-mail. the Backup feature came in very handy, but i am not going to need that again until i get an external harddrive (which is sitting behind addition RAM on the priority list). so, i decided that i’m not going to pay $110 for the two e-mail addresses i’m using (mine and Brenda’s). I’m going to make either my Yahoo or my GMail one my main contact one, but i haven’t decided which one yet. I like how the new Yahoo Beta’s interface is - it’s working fine for me and it looks much better than GMail’s. However, it seems that GMail is much more popular. Any tidbits of wisdom for me?
